Chinchilla Melon Festival - Australia

Chinchilla melon festival is being held in chinchilla town in Queensland Australia, the town is the melon capital of Australia host to one of the most delicious festivals in the world and that is a Melon Festival every second year in February As Chinchilla produces 25% of Australia’s melons.


This festival is known as one of the biggest food festivals worldwide that people do not just throw melons at each other but perform other activities such as Melon Skiing, Melon Bungee, Melon Bull’s-eye, Melon Iron-man, Melon Chariot, a pip spitting competition, melon eating races and other melonic activities.


A special event held in 2009 saw John Allwood secure the Guinness World Record of Melon Head Smashing - cracking open as many watermelons as possible using only the head. Currently his record is 47 melons in a minute.


The first Chinchilla Melon Festival was held in 1994 by local producers and businessmen, In 2009, the Melon Festival won the Queensland Regional Achievement and Community Award for Tourism Event.



People around the world come to this rather small city to experience a different and healthy celebration and rest from machine life they have everyday, this events help them to feel what is nature still offers to them.
